the last of summer

as i type this, july is coming to an end, which also means that summer break is coming to an end and a new academic year awaits us. my previous two posts about summer break have been pretty mundane as i've been doing the same thing almost every day, but july was a little bit more exciting for me.
from 9 to 12 july, i went to cambodia for the first time. i did not blog about it in june 2013, but in one of my posts in august 2013, there was a collage of skype calls with the cambodian teens whom we met two months earlier. context: in june 2013, a group of cambodians came to singapore for a school trip and we grew pretty close to them throughout their stay here. since then, i've always wanted to go to cambodia to visit them and the country. in 2015, another batch came and since i had the time, i got to hung out with them and made more new friends. this year, after five years since i first met my cambodian friends and since my bank account allows, i went to cambodia. it was quite an impromptu decision for me as i booked my flight two weeks prior to the trip... during work. but i was excited to finally be visiting another southeast asian country and to be reuniting with some friends. i had a good time in cambodia, doing tourist-y things like visiting the genocide museum which i learnt about in history, and doing local things like eating balut (duck embryo). and yes i cried as the plane left cambodia. i collated the videos i took in cambodia into one, i'll link it below!
to end off the week, on friday the 13th, i saw wanna one for the first time! it was a good good time except for the strict security. my favourite part of the night has got to be always, when the boys did not sing the chorus but instead, everyone in the audience sang to it. i had the chills.
on 21st july, i went to meet the simpsons people after a long time. we went to catch the fireworks at helix bridge before heading over to suntec burger king for supper where i saw yiyin and yaofeng!! how coincidental. hanrong joined us after his ndp as well. and! really really grateful that melvin came as well hehe. i literally have mixed feelings about how this will be my last simpsons gathering as a freshie.
before summer break, i actually planned to do one full dance cover per month, but that plan obviously backfired as i'm a very lazy person. but in july, i actually managed to do two full dance covers. i did 24k's bonnie n clyde around one week before i flew to cambodia, and recently just did golden child's let me. link will be below! i probably won't be posting any more full dance covers for awhile now because school is starting soon and amethyx will be working on thanks and oh my for ideal cut and then afterwards we will have to prepare for kai as well i think. but if time allows, i would want to do more dance covers because dance is my only form of exercise.
this week will be my last legitimate week of summer break because in the next two weeks, i will be involved in hall camp and school camp before the new semester starts. i really don't want school to start, i don't feel prepared. i'll also still be working on saturdays so hopefully i will be able to manage school work for the next semester as well as my other commitments.

friday the 13th of july 2018 was definitely not an unlucky day for singapore wannables as they got to see the 11-member popular boy group perform for the second time in singapore. wanna one held their first full fledged concert in singapore in a sold out venue of 9500 fans at the singapore indoor stadium that evening, proving their popularity in singapore. fans had gathered outside the venue from early afternoon despite the concert starting at 8pm in the evening, nonetheless, the excitement for the concert only grew as time passed.
as the lights dimmed and wanna one emerged from behind a screen, the whole stadium erupted into screams and cheers as wanna one kicked off the night with familiar hits burn it up, never and energetic. this was followed by minhyun and jinyoung's solo stages where fans chanted their names. they performed unit stages as well, and the first stage, 11, got wannables screaming as the boys performed the sleek dance moves. during forever and a day, everyone in the stadium could be heard singing along to the chorus, sending chills down my spine. a vcr was played before jihoon and woojin had a short dance break, going into their next hit, boomerang. the boys then introduced themselves as a group and individually, with daehwi and daniel speaking english asking everyone if they're ready to get turnt up for the night! the next stage was day by day. the choreography was intense and screams could be heard throughout the stage. following that, the boys performed beautiful, with fans singing along especially to the prechorus and chorus. wannables were then treated with daniel's solo stage where he got everyone mesmerised. after a vcr, jaehwan performed his solo stage, opening the stage for i'll remember. we were really blessed by his vocals. during the acoustic stage of i just wanna, the lighting made the whole stadium glow, definitely an insta-worthy moment. next was a nostalgic performance of always, where wanna one did not sing the chorus. instead, all 9500 wannables in the audience sang to the chorus and some members were seen taking out their in-ears to listen to wannables' voices filling the stadium. next was ment section where members performed scenarios like apologising to their girlfriends, re-enacting a scene where they drink water and said "so shiok", as well as exclaiming "damn nice" after eating chili crab. sungwoon was exposed by the members to have enjoyed eating the local meal very well! the members also asked sungwoon to sing a verse from forever and a day, and he asked wannables to sing together with him. of course, they did, and the boys were impressed. next was daehwi and seongwu's solo before they performed sandglass. as heize was not there, wannables sang to her part and the whole stadium was filled with wannables' voices once again. the next unit stage was kangaroo, and fans could be seen jamming to this catchy song. a vcr which got fans shouting and cheering introduced the next stage, where jisung took the stage as he dj-ed, lifting up the atmosphere in the stadium, followed by guanlin and sungwoon's solo stages. the atmosphere was kept high as wanna one performed cheerful, upbeat songs wanna be, twilight, and wannables' anthem nayana. the boys also went around the extended stage interacting with fans during these songs. during the next ment, the boys told us that we had limited time left together, everyone felt sad but that did not stop the fans from singing together to the next song, gold. a vcr was played and fans chanted for wanna one and an encore. they came out with their latest comeback title track, light, and the stadium joined in with fanchants. wanna one then had their individual ending ments where daniel and daehwi brought up the topic of hearing wn=annables' voices during always stage. to end off the night, wanna one performed ipu, and the whole stadium was singing along and cheering non stop till the end where the boys went to the extended stages to take a bow.
thank you wanna one for coming to singapore again and leaving singapore wannables with good memories. so glad i could be part of the always crowd.

no matter how almost predictable my daily life has been lately and how almost boring it is, my fingers still itch to update this blog. we're in july now, which practically means that we're into the second half of the year and the new school year will be starting in a month. seventeen recently announced their world tour and they're coming back to singapore again so amethyx will be working on our busking performance again. their cat3 tickets are so cheap i am so tempted but!!! i'm broke. i'll be going to cambodia next week, it's a pretty impromptu decision, booking the flight just two weeks before the trip. but i'm so excited to be visiting another southeast asian country! i've also been forcing myself to dance, and i finished learning 24k's bonnie n clyde i just have to drill and clean it and try to survive the whole choreography with my very limited stamina. also, to kill boredom and time, i've started watching some kdramas. i watched half of school 2015 and strong woman do bong soon, and finished watching boys over flowers and dream high. just putting it out here boys over flowers is so so good such a tear-jerker especially during the middle few episodes. that's about it. my life has been pretty boring but here's just a short update to keep things moving.
