sign on!!!
Saturday, 20 February 2016 || 10:58 pm
it's been almost a month since i last updated my blog and honestly quite a bit have been going on since my last post. one of the biggest events that have happened so far would be matriculation and orientation 2016 which was honestly the bOMB!!! (i'm still finding time to blog about it LOL hopefully it will be posted soon) (i haven't even talked about MY matriculation and orientation last year LOL i suck). HAHAHA, then there was chinese new year where we saw our cousins after quite some time, we had mg breakfast one thursday morning, brothers' appreciation day, steamboat @ fiona's etc. but today it'll be about the J2s' visit to 11C4I Battalion at Pasir Laba Camp in conjunction with total defence day. i honestly thought it would be boring and shizzles, but it turned out to be very interesting and quite fun in fact!!
the ride from school to pasir laba camp was actually quite fast and when we reached the (very big) camp, we assembled at the leaders's square according to our houses and in our details (or groupings). and our class is with s25 in detail 22. as the buses were late and we were the first few to reach the camp, we got some stuff like poncho, water, wet tissue and pamphlet then they distributed the combat food ration. it was in packets and interestingly, there were different types of food HAHA. we didn't dare to eat it at first, but me joey and safura shared a packet of satay fish thingy i think? and it was actually not bad!! and it was very filling too i think we only ate half a packet and then we're full already. now that we've eaten combat food ration from the packet, i guess eating squashed food would be a problem no more hahah. and when everyone finally arrived, we had a welcome address and briefing first before the different houses split to different stations.
while our detail was gathering, the s25 ct asked us "which class is this? a05 isit" and we're like ya and he told his class "ok you all must look out for a05 ah" HAHAHA so while walking to our first station, the noisy people aka me joey jas safura chun liming and sometimes kelvin and michelle sang songs LOL. we legit very noisy and it was so funny singing while walking idk but ya everyone just probably thought that we were noisy and annoying and irritating singing in an army camp but ok. so at our first station, which was the knots and lashing station, we learnt how to tie a knot. i was with chun and like we tied together but we faced a bit of problem because firstly, we tied the two poles too tightly, and secondly, we ran out of string to complete the knot. so i obviously started laughing like crazy already even though it was probably not funny. then we headed to the combat ration tasting station where there were more combat ration food to be tasted but i was really full already so i didn't eat anything. we ate the chrysanthemum bits though, straight from the packet without diluting it in water!! it was really sweet HAHAH. and like ameerul tapped me on the shoulder behind his friend while walking past and gave me a shock THANKS AMEERUL THANKS HAHAH. but they actually had buffet-style food ration thingy there. afterwards we headed to the survival village where we saw how one of their lizard traps worked and another a-frame bed-like thingy. the a-frame display was actually really cool and i jokingly asked jasleen to go try sit on it HAHAH but ya anyway it was really cool but it looked like it takes a long time to build it and much wood is needed but yeah i was quite amazed with that.

@ the knots and lashings station
probably looking at the trap cos i know we had to look upwards for the a-frame at the survival village!!
then, we headed to the next section which was the 11C4I battalion. there were a couple of stations there where they had static display by RSTA, Signals and TUAV. don't ask me what's that i just referred to the pamphlet LOL but i can tell you that the displays were cool. at a smaller spy plane section, we took a selfie with the spy plane camera LOL I CANNOT. then me joey and chun went to sit on the little truck thingy and like we wanted to take a picture when suddenly, from the speaker came "eh joween" and there was a legit picture where the three of us were shocked, turned out to be denzil HAHAHA what the please. it was super cool though sitting in there!! then we went to the photobooth where we had a legit picture taken. i wore the number 4 (?) shirt, a cap and held a rifle pew pew!! afterwards me and jas went to sit on another truck which was hidden at a corner hahaha and we took some more pictures there bc the background was nice. then we went to the radio station where liming carried the radio thingy which weighed 7kg i'm like holy cow but it was q cool cos there was an antenna or something sticking out real long. hahah then we went to the bigger spy plane station where on the hd tv, they showed some photos and chun thought she saw her brother HAHAH. it was super cool basically, with faster and larger features as compared to the smaller spy plane mentioned earlier. afterwards, we had our barrack walkabout of which we went to see how a bunk looked like. one word: neat. the bunk which roomed around 8 people if i'm not wrong, was neater than my own room. with almost no dirt at all. and even the cabinets, which they showed us which compartment stored what, were also neater than my wardrobe no joke!! and the people at the bunk were q funny actually HAHAH. then we headed to the night vision room AND THIS IS REALLY COOL. like we went into a completely dark room and used some special lens which helped us see in the dark. it was legit vvvv amazing for me to be able to see in the dark!! then we went to the pt station where they demo-ed how to do a proper push up and pull up and we cheered for kelvin. once again, we're very noisy. afterwards there was an army int talk and we kinda joined halfway so yeahhhhhhhhh.

the small spy plane!!
"eh joween"
the radio thingy liming is carrying? 7kg.
at the pt station and one of our detail ics!! xie xie detail 22 ics!!
then we headed to the imt part where we did simulation shooting with a sar21 rifle with like technology kinda thing LOL. it was v cool like i shot 8 times in total HAHAH and like i wanted to "restart" the rifle kinda thing but i just don't know and can't pull the trigger or something i'm just weak la basically HAHA but ya the shooting was quite fun and cool cos we first had to go down into a "hole". experience at best!!! afterwards we had technical handling with a sar21 rifle. probably one of the coolest part of the whole visit because that will probably be the last time i touch a sar21 rifle, the main weapon which singapore uses. we learnt how to strip a rifle, and for full experience, i tried striping and putting back one rifle with much help from the army guys there because i'm weak HAHA. the guy there was like "is it heacy" and i'm like "ya" and he's like "ok la" and told us about how there were heavier weapons and that they would actually be happy if they got a sar21 rifle. since there was also time, he also told us about how the rifle worked and how it can be used at night too. basically it was really cool and that guy was q friendly HAHA.
then we headed back to the leaders square for debrief and it was quite funny because the captain said "when i walked around, i realised that the ladies are quite good at shooting. this means one thing, never mess with a woman when she is holding a weapon" HAHAHA i cannot.but the debrief was kinda reflective and i actually felt like the whole day had been really interesting and i actually learnt a little more stuff about army. mad respect to nsf and nsmen after this learning journey!! (and cries bc won't be able to see the good looking army guys ever again) HAHA. and when we were leaving, we passed by our detail ics and said "thank you" just to thank them and they were actually sitting among other detail ics, but they waved hahaha.
yay company for the day!!! thanks for the laughters man!!
till next time x
