random post!!!

hi.
week 3 of school is about to start. i did not do anything on saturday because i was totally drained after ogl stuff, and guess what i'm doing on a sunday evening!!!! typing out this post!!! school has been a drag this past two weeks. contents are heavy and my default mood will always, always be sleepy. and sometimes hungry. i'm hyped for orientation partly because i will be away from the books for a week. but then i'm afraid and nervous to find out who will be my group members haha. that being said, i wanna wish all my friends in the middle of secondary school and post-secondary school, goodluck for your posting results on thursday. ;) i'll be waiting for yall at pj orientation!!! oh and i forgot to mention this earlier but i have like 3 tests tomorrow and i'm still on my laptop.... procrastination is in my blood.
drained

if there's one word to describe how i'm feeling right now, it is drained. i feel so tired every single day just trying to complete homework if not i'll get a nasty scolding from teachers. it's only january, it's only the first term of school. and it's only the second week of school. as a j2 student, the expectations from teachers are high. you're expected to have revised j1 content, and to be prepared for every lesson in the hectic year ahead. in my current timetable, we have lesser breaks now and continuous content lessons for up to 3 hours. after every gp tutorial, we'll have a homework assignment. and after every econs and history lecture/tutorial, there is new content to be memorised and applied to essays. not forgetting the 5 books that i have to read for lit this year. 10 months to A levels. i don't even know if i'm prepared or not. i'm lacking so much content-wise and i feel like everything seems to be in a rush. sometimes i'm so close to breaking down and other times i'm on the verge of giving up, but it's too late now. i can't complain about being in jc because i chose this route. i don't really regret choosing jc honestly, but i'm just so scared for what is to come in the weeks and months leading to the big A's. time is like flying by so quickly already. i need to be focused and have the ultimate end in mind. stress is only going to go up, expectations from teachers are going to be raised, pressure to do well will keep on coming until the end. late nights, piling assignments, frequent tests, high expectations, unexpected problems. i'm scared.
ogl camp & open house 2016

hello to whoever who still reads this! first post of the year and as the title suggests, it will be about ogl camp and open house!! it was supposedly just for ogl camp but i couldn't post this in time before open house so i'll post it together!! ogl camp was held from 5/1-7/1, and knowing my group members' NAMES prior to this camp, i didn't know what to expect from this camp, and i definitely wasn't looking forward to it because i wasn't close with anybody from my group (plus the fact that i am a socially awkward person). despite everything that we've gone through this past 3 days, now i'd say that i absolutely enjoyed ogl camp 2016!! :) open house happened a nearly a week after ogl camp, on the 12/1/16 which means that O levels result release was on the previous day on the 11th, on which i went back to the alma mater (supposedly to publicise pj open house), and oh'16 was definitely an experience for me which i will share at the later part of this post so. :)
5/1/16 tuesday
we met jasmine at woodlands mrt before going to school together. it's always great to have someone rather high in the morning to make you laugh HAHAH. so we assembled in the hall at 7.30am sharp (glad that we made it on time) and gathered in our groups to take attendance. one of the ogls was late, so we were punished and had to stay in pumping position for quite a while and this was probably the first lesson we learnt from the camp. afterwards, we had bag check, and after a certain number of items, there were like 263 "missing" items which some people didn't bring and then we were punished again by doing pt. this time, some ogls came up with an idea, splitting 263 into 6 houses and each house doing a different form of pt for 45 counts. yet another lesson learnt (at least for me). 45 buddha claps no joke, but other houses did pushups. squats and whatnot (not a sports person sorry) and we did it. then it was a briefing by the organisers of the camp, (probably some more admin matters) before we split into our groups and had ice breaker games. so first we did an introduction trying to mix everyone's new faces to the names on the namelist and we played whacko. we also played takoyaki and concentration afterwards too i think!! and it was so funny playing concentration because for awhile, minyi and wincent kept losing the beat HAHAH it was so hilarious!! so we probably did ice breakers until it was time for lunch. we had some briefing for lunch before we could finally have it! basically for every meal time, there will be a group serving food, leading cheer and also cleaning up. and our group didn't tio anything HAHAH. lunch, in fact all the lunches and dinners we had, were 5 course meals and the food didn't disappoint. even on the second day of dinner, denzil said that his only regret was not bringing a bigger plate HAHAH. so after lunch, we gathered in the hall for a facilitation cum debrief workshop. and before i forget i just wanted to say that our group was always the last to leave the caanteen after meal times except for after dinner on the second day HAHAHA. we were a little restless during the workshop, but we survived through it hahaha. afterwards, we had a briefing before proceeding to station games 1!! (also kudos to all the ogls station games masters!!) the games, not in any order are the gameshow, fortress, zoom and rezoom and another game which involved spaghetti and marshmallows. hahah. so for fortress, it was a mixture of captain's ball and dodgeball and i obviously sat out because ball games ain't my thing hahah but it was quite entertaining to watch!! the game show was so hhfiefhwi it was a series of games that are hard for people with shaky hands aka me. the first station already made me so omg because my hands kept shaking when i'm about to pull out the card from the cup tower. then the previous pair helped other pairs do the card bridge HAHA and yeah the cup and ping pong ball game wasn't as hard as i thought it would be. afterwards it was the game which had spaghetti and marshmallows too and basically i was at the cup station where we had to stack 12 cups floating on a plate in a pail filled with water. and as my hands would shake, i was only helpful at the bottom part HAHAH. and at the zoom and rezoom game, we made a story successfully yay. :))) after station games 1, we headed back to the hall where we learnt new house cheers!!! it was quite fun learning, trying to catch up and actually trying to do it!! then it was time for dinner and then it was house discussion time. so darwin gathered to discuss our house identity while the dancers choreographed a house dance and when other houses did their cheers, we did ours too. and i think we're quite loud for a group of 40!! especially the who you wanna be cheer HAHA. and we also learnt the new cheer and during the oi darwin cheer the guys were learning the ohohohhhhh part and it was so funny like the guys were trying to do it seriously but it was so hilarious i laughed until i cried HAHAHA and wincent will also randomly say "HOOHA" which was also super funny i cannot. i think i laughed the most and hardest during the house discussion on the first day. after house discussion, everyone gathered at the hall for night games briefing. and i ended up being in the engine crew group, which is almost as demanding as the spartans. so basically all the ogls were split into groups and in each group, we had to complete tasks to help the spartans who were doing pt to like get their breaks and stuff. and as the engine crew, we had to fill up a container with water to a certain amount before the spartans can take a 2 minute break. but the pail with water was a distance away, and we only had spoons to transfer the water. it was tiring walking rounds and rounds of the same route trying to fill up the container very very slowly. like we didn't even take breaks and with the scs "tekaning" us we ran and we persevered for like an hour? i don't know how long. but during the game, we also had bigger spoons, sponges and gloves so that we can transfer the water in a shorter time. i was literally dead by the end of night games. then we had debrief in the hall, supper, and a short shower before i had sentry duty. our sentry duty was quite short hhahah and gladys came and said hi hahaha.
6/1/16 wednesday
6.10am i was awoken up by scs screaming "fire! fire!" well duh fire drill to wake us up right. so we went to the parade square and what do you know the first person i saw was joey in SLIPPERS and i was like oh no die. (we indeed, died) so those without daypack and not in shoes were called out and as they went to get their stuff, the rest of us had to hold our hands in buddha position my poor weak hands. so search teams were also sent out while some people tried to contact those in the fire and um i didn't do anything bc i wasn't fully awake oops. and the firedrill ended at 7.40 with a debrief. then we had breakfast even before we washed up and i guess everyone was tired and dead hahah. i'm not quite sure what we did after breakfast but i think like fun dance and cheers it was super tiring but fun!!! then we had lunch and interpersonal skills workshop before station games 2!! there was tower of team work where i initially wanted to do the missions but decided to build the tower which could not stand (HAHA), save the ping pong in which we had to pass ping pong balls from one end to another with cups tied to different parts of our body. i even got tied with jovynna lolol but that challenge made the game fun HAHAH. grab bag charades was really funny! our group got the fairytales category, and like sinead and i knew quite a number of the fairytales, to the amazement of the guys HAHA. denzil was like "wah your childhood everyday watch fairytale isit" it was super funny la OK. and at the sing-off, the guys were singing at the other group and for our group, me sinead and jovynna sing HAHAHA it was quite fun!! and also, before every station game, we had to do a cheer la. after station games 2, we gathered back into the hall for the school song and school creed activity. then we sang the full school song without the music??!! during the song, every group formed a circle and our group suddenly decided to walk around and kept turning, and halfway, we turned the other way HAHA even minyi who was in front with the other councillors said that she saw us turning round and round. afterwards it was the school tour part where we had to guess different locations and at every location, one person must introduce the place. i introduced the basketball court LOL because there was nothing to say. and our group took a picture at the panorama wall because... why not? and when we went back to the hall, we took a full group shot at the white wall outside the hall (one of the most instagrammable places in pj) as minyi wasn't around in the previous picture at the panorama wall HAHA. then it was the mass dance and i partnered wincent and he was super funny during the face-no face part because he can't do his hands right i was just laughing at him most of the time HAHAH. ((sorry wincent it was really very hilarious!!)) ya we danced a couple of times and wincent got the last dance right yayyyyy. afterwards it was house discussion time and we introduced ourselves and played blow wind blow like 1000 times and my butt hurt afterwards for the next 3 days no joke. then it was dinner time and it was spaghetti yum yum!!! and as i mentioned earlier, our group was early after today's dinner, so my group played the HAHA game and i sat out because IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHY YOU ARE NOT MY FRIEND. hahah jk bc i already couldn't stop laughing when wincent suggested that game. i don't even know how people can hold their laughter like i need that skills man. and denzil was super funny when he said the haha in different tones and pitches i died laughing till i cried. i probably laughed the most on the second day when my group played the haha game HAHAHA. and then we had pioneer show down which only confirms the fact that our group had very little knowledge about our school HAHAH well what can i say.. and then we had bbq!! it had not been done in pj for a very very long time and well yeah it was nice our group talked a little more, the songs were my jam (except the song from our times which i did not know and everyone else knew lol i felt so out of place). the satay and sausage was nice HAHA and darwin did a hungry cheer and denzil actually initiated our group to do the yum-seng thingy hahaha. it was pretty nice. after the bbq which lasted till past 12 midnight (HAPPY BIRTHDAY JASMINE), everyone began singing birthday songs to people LOL. we gathered for a short briefing and in our houses, we did a pioneer hulksmash... silently because it was almost 1am? afterwards, everybody went to the field and in our groups, we lay down in circles and basically star gazed as we talked about how we felt and stuff. i didn't say anything. but it was like the first time that night when wincent and denzil actually said like proper stuff???????? ok wow hahahah. it was really nice just enjoying the night sky with the group!! and we saw a shooting star. half my group was sleeping, but i saw the shooting star and i was just like "woah" because for the first time in my life at idk what time, i saw a shooting star!!!!! afterwards, we broke up to wash up and go to sleep. no sentry duty tonight. but i don't know why i couldn't sleep well i kept waking up when i heard footsteps prolly cos i was scared they would do another firedrill. but oh well. it was a nice night stargazing nonetheless. :)
7/1/16 thursday
last day of ogl camp and i honestly wished it would last longer!! everybody was super dead at breakfast. thank goodness pt in the morning was cancelled. hahah so after breakfast we cleaned up and gathered at the hall before we went to clean the whole school. we cleaned up pretty quickly and at the canteen, we learnt an owens cheer because we had time lol. during the clean up, you can literally hear cheers around the school. and that's something good about pj - that pj is at a ulu place and not very near hdb flats so won't get complaints and stuff HAHAH. afterwards we went back to the hall and danced the fun dance, had house discussion when we learnt a little of our house dance, mass dance (partnered wincent again), did more cheers and did our school haka too. it's a bit confusing though but well HAHA. at our final debrief, we kinda wrote little notes for one another in our group. we had final debrief from the sctas and mrs tan and before we break camp, we took a whole group photo. me and sinead were like tip toeing on steps bc the people in front were tall and bc we are short too HAHAH yay then we were dismissed. i honestly felt i didn't give my best during the camp. i could have talked to more people and open up more but i held myself. all out during orientation!!! delta 2, even though we were super quiet most times, you guys are genuinely nice and i'm so glad i got to meet you guys and i hope we can bond more!! the past 3d2n had been amazing, we've gone through a whole lot, i laughed a lot thanks to you guys and i am glad i can laugh comfortably with you guys. :)
11/1/16 was O level result release day!! lessons ended at 11, and me and a few other cchy-pj people went back to the alma mater to publicise our school open house. it was good seeing familiar faces aka juniors and teachers!! faith and hengjie were crying before they got their results omg kids you guys are exactly like me last year!! and yini and jolene were outstanding students!! this year 2 dancers leh!!!! ok ya so anyway we talked to different people giving out flyers and reassuring some juniors as well and mr yap came and talk to us for a bit and he knows that we're from pj??? w0t. yongkai did well yay!! honestly today made me miss saikang so much!!!! so we took pics and high-ed around with cindy hehe yay. :)
since 11th was results day, 12/1/16 tuesday was open house. as an ambassador, i was excused from lessons for the whole day. and oh'16 was a vv tiring day! we assembled at the elysium for briefings first and then at 8.30, we started our duty when it was supposed to start at 9 lol but ok. i was at the reception greeting the visitors and i saw some familiar faces already ahahah. it was quite busy at some parts especially when people came in big groups lol. manageable, but very tiring and you feel thirsty after some time especially since you will talk a lot. i also did the school tour duty but i think around 10 or less than 10 groups hahah and they were from schools like kuo chuan, yishun town, and evergreen students for the school visit. saw some familiar faces such as junqian & a whole big group of cchy people, katherine & friends, jolene & friends as well as james & his friends and joseph teo!!! talked to vanessa and james and we were like super angry at james for dpa-ing successfully because he could have continued the pioneer legacy!! it was super hilarious, and we took a picture. also took picture with james and joseph teo!! hahah it was super funny talking to them too, and it has become a natural instinct for me to roll my eyes at james whenever i see him HAHA. even james' friends felt the same as me too ok HAHAHA. then james asked me what my subject combination was and i was like "econs history lit h1 math" and then he asked "the rest h4 ah?" I DIED IN THE LIBRARY I SWEAR HAHAH. and also while touring, my group was near daniel's group because he was super slow LOL and then the visitor asked him "can wear any shoes is it?" and he answered "yah can wear any socks also" and he showed his long socks AND I LAUGHED HAHAHAH. AND during reception he would great the visitors like in a high way which was pretty hilarious too. joey also said she thought she saw samuel (if not it was her imagination) and she was like ????? HAHAH and at the end at around 4.55, we danced the mass dance just for fun!!! :) & got free curry puffs too!!! my feet were sore by the end of the day no joke but now that open house is over, we're just waiting for time to pass till orientation!!
I'M SORRY THIS POST TOOK SUPER LONG TO BE POSTED. school had started, i'm feeling so drained already but i'm pretty pumped for orientation even though i don't know my group yet!! hopefully all will go well though //crosses fingers//. today we had a darwin dance prac and it was super fun and tiring and i think we all did not bad so yay! nobel dance is funny in a good wayyyy!!! &&&&&&& second week of school, i already have a scheduled test this week & i still got undone homework byE
